Are you heading north this winter?

Are you heading North this winter?

There are two types of flu vaccinations, one for the Northern Hemisphere (US, Canada, Europe, Russia, China, Japan) and one for the Sourthern Hemisphere.  The seasons, though slightly fluctuating from year to year, is approximately from December to February for the Northern Hemisphere followed by the Southern Hemisphere from May to September.
For many people living in Thailand it is easy to forget that it might be worth getting the flu vaccination here before going home for the holiday season.
We are pleased to announce the new flu vaccine for Northern Hemisphere travelers has arrived!

Recommendations:

Everyone from the age of 6 months should get the flu vaccine, and it is recommended by the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention to get the shot as early as possible after it gets released on the market. Children aged 6 months -8 years might need two shots of the flu vaccine.

Precautions

The flu vaccine is meant to help prevent the most common flu types. In addition to taking the flu vaccine you should stay away from people with a cold, make sure you wash your hands regularly to reduce the spread of germs. Also, if you get sick, do stay at home to avoid spreading the flu.

How effective is the flu vaccination?

This is a tricky question, because the flu season changes from year to year and it is difficult to predict exactly what will happen this year. There are other factors that influence the effectiveness of the vaccination too, such as age, general health and so forth. You might also catch another type of flu that you have not been vaccinated against. Most vaccinations are “trivalent” or “quadrivalent” – meaning that they will protect against three or four types of flu / influenzas.

At our clinic you can get the flu vaccination for 680 bath as well as many other vaccinations!
